Boots on the Ground

ARKANSAS STATE CHAPTERS

Your Boots on the Ground

Founded in 1973 by a group of dedicated horsemen who were determined to protect and promote the sustainable use of stock in the back country, Back Country Horsemen of America is now the leading advocate for recreational stock use on all public lands. This means that you can be sure that you have a seat at the table when there are public debates about the future of equines on our trails.

At our core, we are a grassroots organization. The members of our local chapters are the “boots on the ground” work force that is dedicated to keeping your trails open. In Arkansas we are proud to have four chapters and together we help maintain hundreds of miles of public trails. We clear brush, saw logs, remove trash, install water diversion bars, mark trails, and do other labor intensive projects as needed. Serious work, but we also have serious fun. In addition to trail work, we ride, camp and potluck together, forming lifelong friendships along the way.

If trail work is not your thing, don’t let that deter you. There are lots of ways to serve, so explore our Chapters here and feel free to contact us with your questions.
